Speakers Bureau

The Sisters in Crime Speakers Bureau is now underway. We’ve got a growing roster of terrific speakers, all SinC members and award winners and/or best-sellers, and SinC National will provide them to chapters as teachers, or presenters, or seminar leaders. Want to have a conversation with Laurie R. King? Learn about creating a successful series from Katherine Hall Page? Discover the secrets of plotting from Jenny Milchman? Those are just some of the possibilities!

It’s free! SinC National will pay each speaker for the appearance, including all their expenses, travel and hotel. (Speakers will make their own travel arrangements. Of course, it would be lovely if your chapter provides transportation to and from the airport and your event, but you should work that out with your guest.)

Our next application period will be in January 2018 (specific dates TBA) -- we will then be accepting applications for speaker matches for 2019. Please do not submit for 2019 slots if you had a speaker in 2018.

Here’s how it works: Chapter presidents or programming chairs may click here for an application (disabled at this time, but we will reactivate when it's time to take the next round of requests).  Choose three authors you’d be interested to host, as well as three possible dates for your event.

We will check with the speakers, assign one who is available for the dates you desire, and let you know what program(s) they can offer. If that works for you, we’ll connect you and your speaker so you can work out logistics. Right now, there are 12 speaker slots available for 2018. Applications are processed in the order that they are received: once all 12 slots are filled, applications will then go into the queue for 2020 in the order that they are received.

Questions? Contact Tina Whittle, Education Liaison or Hank Phillippi Ryan.

Want to be part of the Sisters in Crime Speakers Bureau? If you are a national best-selling or major award-winning author, a professional editor or agent, or an experienced presenter of seminars in your field of expertise, we would love to hear from you.

Sisters in Crime has a limited budget for the Speakers Bureau, and we can fund 12 classes a year. If you would like to participate, and you fulfill those qualifications, please let us know! Contact Tina Whittle, Education Liaison (tina@tinawhittle.com) or Hank Phillippi Ryan (hryan@whdh.com).

Please include the topics of classes you would be interested in teaching. This is not an opportunity for you to promote your new book, but an educational opportunity for the chapters.

Chapters will select several possible speakers for their event, and SinC will try to provide top choices when we can. We hope this will be a great way for knowledgeable and successful sisters to share their exceptional experience with other members.
